In my long life I have come to the conclusion that there are only two kinds of people: those with a loving heart and those with a hating heart. One evening I was expounding on this point during a talk at an Islamic Center. A young man sharply interrupted me saying: Dr Hathout, love is for Hollywood. We are here for Islam!

To which I answered:

The prophet P.B.U.H. said: “You will not enter paradise until you become a Mu’min, and you will not become a Mu’min until you love one another? It is my honest advice for all Muslims to perhaps stop all activities and first work on their own hearts until they become loving hearts!
