The Islamic Center recognizes the many accomplishments of Pope John Paul II in his position as head of the Roman Catholic Church. He is a man of peace as exemplified by his attempts to resolve the conflict in the Middle East through non-violence. He is a man of forgiveness as exemplified by his exonerating the man who attempted to assassinate him early in his tenure. He is a man of humbleness as exemplified by his askance of the world to forgive the past injustices committed by the Roman Catholic Church in the last millennium. Pope John Paul II has been consistent in seeking dialog between people of all faiths. For these exemplary characteristics, the Islamic Center honors his accomplishments and wishes him peace in this life and tranquility in the Hereafter.
