The World War II era had many devastating consequences for our nation, including the national shame of the internment of Japanese Americans. The willingness and compassion shown by the Japanese American community to the Muslim community has been remarkable and poignant. Nikkei Commission for Redress and Reconciliation, represented today by Michael Yanagita and Kathy Masaoka, reached out to Muslims in their time of fear and anguish with compassion and strength.
