ISLAMIC CENTER OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DENOUNCES MUMBAI VIOLENCE

The Islamic Center of Southern California denounces the recent crimes of senseless violence in

Mumbai, India. Along with the international community, the Southern California Muslim

community shares the sadness and outrage over the tragic deaths of so many innocent people.

The Islamic Center offers its support to the residents of Mumbai and India as they suffer from

this national tragedy. We equally extend our condolences to the families of all victims of this

atrocious act of terrorism. We express our sorrow to the Jewish community for having been

targeted in the attacks, resulting in the tragic deaths of. Innocent victims. The killing of a rabbi

is particularly abhor able as the teachings of Islam emphasize the protection of religious

symbols and leaders of all religions.

Islam considers the use of terrorism to be unacceptable for any purpose. The Islamic Center

stands in solidarity with members of other faith groups against those who seek to promote hate

and violence. We value the importance of interfaith activities such as the recent ”Mosque-

Synagogue Weekend of Twinning” project confronting anti-Semitism and Islamophobia as well

as the various interfaith activities that the center is successfully perusing with all our fellow

citizens.
